This letter is coming to you because I strongly oppose the proposed Sunrise Powerlink above ground transmission line for the following reasons:
Above ground transmission lines -
· are a source of wildfires that threaten all living creatures in San Diego County
· present a dangerous hazard to air and ground forces fighting fires in their vicinity
· are an eyesore for all that live in and visit San Diego County
· adversely impact property values
· are susceptible to being put out of commission by various threats including fire prone conditions, wildfires, high levels of sunspot activity, and many more
· are known to emit electromagnetic radiation
· in this specific instance, have no guarantee of providing power from renewable sources
· in this specific instance, in the near future, will carry power generated by unregulated natural gas plants located in Mexico for delivery to the greater Los Angeles area
Much safer and far less destructive methods are available in keeping with Governor Schwarzenegger’s vision of California leading the nation in developing more progressive energy policies and practices. Thank you for taking the time to review this letter. It is time to STOP the Sunrise Powerlink!
